Microsoft launched the new version of its search engine called Bing earlier this month.
Is it a Google killer? Unlikely, given Googling is a deep-seated habit amongst the majority of Internet users. But it’s certainly chasing #2 search engine Yahoo.
Bing represents the third rebranding of MSN’s search engine products, preceded by MSN Search and to Live Search.
StatCounter analyzed search engine market share two weeks before and after the formal launch of Bing on May 28 (May 14 to May 27 and May 28 to June 10). For the US market it found:
- Google decreased from 78.68% to 77.94% (-0.74%)
- Yahoo decreased from 11.46% to 10.76% (-0.7%)
- Microsoft (Bing, MSN Search and Live Search) increased from 7.4% to 9% (+1.6%)
Bing is not bad, but why choose it over Google? A photo isn’t going to switch me over…sorry Microsoft!
Bing is actually decent…provides relevant results, but is missing a lot of what’s on the web. Perhaps it needs more time to index everything. Google will meet its match one of these days.
Agreed to “Hillary Johnston” bring is OK..fine…but i cannot see a firm and perfect reason for people to opt for it over Google. Google has mastered itself very well from the past many years and for Bing to touch Google will take many many more years. In that many many more year Google will go more and more ahead, so i think there is no point that Bing will chase Google.
I KNOW BING IS A VERY IMPORTANT SEARCH ENGINE BUT IT HAS SOME DRAWBACKS FOR EX. FOR MY MEDI-PROJECT I WAS IN SEARCH ABOUT INFO ABOUT PREEJACULATION BUT DDIN’T GET ANYTHING FROM BING FINALLY I GOT IT FROM GOOGLE!
Bing surely can do well, particularly since the initial response has been tremendous and people do actually seem to like binging it. Also Microsoft has deep pockets as well, to take on Google in the longer run.
Bing is pretty cool, but does it offer enough to steal Google users? No. Will it succeed? To a certain degree as Microsoft has such deep pockets.
I use Bing and Google whenever i want to find something on the internet. I think that both search engines are very good. *
It is interesting to compare the performance of Bing and Google search but i haven’t seen any difference at all in their performance. ,
